Houston Maternity Photographer
So I’m just going to start off by saying I know this post will be a little longer but their session is so perfect so definitely stick around. Every session becomes my new favorite. My clients have become the best clients. I’m sure every photographer feels that way but I’m still convinced mine are the best.
So V contacted me around the holidays to book a maternity and newborn session. We booked both and then did a little planning. I asked them what they would be wearing and she gave me a brief description. I normally get more involved in the styling process for my sessions but since I had already creeped her on Facebook ( I try to creep all of my clients because I like to try to get to know you without actually knowing you…that and I’m creepy. Ha!) so I trusted that they would indeed show up looking cute. I was right. Her dress was absolutely perfect for the location. Gorgeous, flowy, and the colors just went so well. I’ve probably been asked twenty times where it was from so I’ll link the shop here.
So we great each other and get to shooting. It was a little cloudy the day of their session but the weather was cool and breezy. Pretty much the perfect day for an outdoor session. Immediately I can see how in love they are and how excited they are for the arrival of their sweet baby boy. They could not stop smiling at each other and laughing. I asked them to look towards each other with a straight face and they could barely hold it for a few seconds without bursting into laughter. I’m seriously shocked I got as many shots of them looking serious as I did. We worked through a number of poses pretty quickly so we decided to move to a new location. Once I got in my car to drive to the new spot I noticed that the button that allows me to move where my camera focuses had broken off. I internally panicked but decided to just play it cool and keep on keepin’ on like nothing happened. We shot at the second section of the park for a few minutes then drove to the final spot with some beautiful yellow flowers.
I absolutely loved this location and found those first signs of spring with the bare trees super poetic since maternity sessions are always a celebration of a new life. This location is where I learned that A is an animal track expert and he pointed out to me the extremely rare footprint of the duck monkey. Hahahah. I totally trusted his knowledge as he was labeling other footprints we saw until this moment.
As much as I loved how smitten they were with each other and how absolutely radiant V and her smile were my favorite part of there session was the reply I got when I was directing them into a pose. I asked them to “Hold hands and close you eyes as if you’re praying.” and they so easily replied “That should be easy.” And my mind immediately thought of Samuel 1:27 “For this child I prayed.”
